Five items your child needs to start baby ballet
Is your child about to start their very first baby ballet class? Many parents aren’t sure what they might need to begin this journey, but we are always here to help at Dancers Boutique.
Keep reading to understand the essentials your child will need for baby ballet and how to buy supplies that fit correctly:
1) Their first pair of ballet shoes

Buying your child’s first pair of ballet shoes is a very exciting and special experience. Lots of dancers keep their first pair of shoes for years and the trip to their local dance shop lives long in their memory.
Buying your child’s ballet shoes at Dancers Boutique ensures they will be professionally fitted for their ballet shoes. It can be very difficult to purchase the shoes online and ill-fitting shoes can lead to a negative experience. Our specially trained staff at Dancers Boutique will try a selection of different shoes for your child, always getting the perfect fit.
2) Their ballet uniform or outfit

Each dance school will have their own uniform or options for the children in the baby ballet class. Dancers Boutique knows and stocks the uniforms for dance schools in the surrounding area, including:
Amersham Dance Studio
Anna Cervantes
Bloom Ballet Academy
Bucks School of Dance
Castle Street Dance Studios
Chiltern Academy
Hazlemere School of Dance
Headland School of Dance
Maggie Monk School of Dancing
Monzani School of Dance
Ondine School of Dance
Pat Steel School of Dance
Step to It Dance Academy
And more!
At Dancers Boutique, we will know the correct uniform for your child and be able to size them in the garments. The dancers can try on their uniform in our ballet and theatre-themed changing rooms, so you know they are comfortable and happy in the outfit before you buy. The children love to try on their uniforms and take a look in the mirror; lots of our older customers have fond memories of trying on their first ballet outfit in Dancers Boutique.
Some local dance schools do not have a set uniform for baby ballet. In this case, you and your dancer can browse our curated baby ballet rail, and pick out and try the perfect outfit for them!
Typically, as well as their shoes, your little dancer will need:
A ballet dress or leotard and skirt combination
Ballet tights or socks
A ballet cardigan for the cooler months.
3) Everything you need for neat ballet hair
For ballet, it’s very important to have your hair neatly back off your face, whether you are a boy or a girl in baby ballet. Dancers Boutique sells everything you need for the perfect ballet bun, if this is what is required by your teacher. Our helpful staff have years of experience of ballet buns, so are always happy to advise on technique and the bun nets, grips, pins and bun shapers you may need. We even sell special bun packs with everything you might need at a cheaper price.
We also sell headbands that match RAD uniforms and other leotards, which are great for both boys and girls.
There are heaps of hair accessories to check out at Dancers Boutique, including the cutest ballerina hair clips!
4) Shoes for any other dance styles they take
At some dance schools, baby ballet may be combined with another dance style, such as tap or modern, to allow the children to try different dances in one lesson.
Dancers Boutique are very familiar with the local dance schools and will know if your little dancers also need a pair of tap shoes or jazz shoes. Of course, we will also professionally fit these shoes so they are safe and comfortable to dance in.
We even have a special wooden flooring for dancers to try out their tapping for the first time!

5) A wide selection of dance bags
Now your child is kitted out, they might need a ballet bag to take their supplies along to dance class in. We have a huge variety of dance bags in different styles and sizes to choose from. Picking out their dance bag pulls the experience together for your little dancer and they are always delighted to carry their bag home and get ready for their first ballet class!
